Here Comes the Rain
I felt connected to Chris DeSimone's track - Self. Since his piece was created to resonate with a variety of moods, I decided to write a lyrical poem that would take a potentially bogus situation (like being caught in the rain) and turning it into something enlightening and positive.

Self
As I grow older, the things that bothered me about myself suddenly became my Merit Badges. We are our own road maps. We should honor and be proud of that fact. I am.

I See, Too
A response to the melodic sound of Steve Appleton. Created in the same time frame as the music, but with eyes closed and through automatic writing. This is the feeling of the sound.

Will I Ever Understand...
An essay written about trying to answer the question, What is Nature? I've recently become very involved in wanting to write essays of experience. I find this to be the best way to clearly express thought, idea and opinion. I hope that through essay writing, this will spark topics of discussion...

In the Line of Sight
Fall is my favorite time of year and I find myself always drawn to the forests more during this time, then any other. Nature is the breath of life and I am a firm believer and supporter of conserving the wilds of the world.

Funny Face
This piece was constructed using a series of bee hive drawings I created during a 1 year arts residency. For this entry, to the Save the Bees challenge, I wanted to concentrate on an abstracted bee face, with a subtle concentration on shaping it into a heart. Save the Bees : Love the Bees .

Watching
An older poem, from 2002, when I lived in Houston, TX. I hated living there and the only joy I seemed to have was sitting on the balcony in my apartment and watching everyone. It's amazing what you can witness in the span of one day (or in this case, 6 months.)

Habitual Jealousy
A written word exercise about the first subject that popped into my mind : Jealousy. It is something every human being suffers from. Different levels, different reasons. I think jealousy is a habit. Do I break it? Or do I keep it? I feel it.

480 Blocks
I often dictate my own notes and words through a recording device on my phone. This often takes place in the very early morning or very late in the evening..almost always when I'm laying in bed. 480 Blocks, is a free verse poem recorded in the same manner that I dictate my daily tasks.

Change : The Shape...
This work is originally by Julie O'Yang. Lately, I have been studying Pareidolia (seeing faces in inanimate objects) and wanted to translate this ability into the work of other artists. Whenever I look at something, I almost always see people/faces. This is the start of experimenting with...

Tess
The human body. There are two ways in which it is perceived - Attractive or Unattractive. It is a common fear, for women (and men), that they will become or stay fat and thus become an ostracized entity of society. Our bodies dictate our place in the world. It dictates how much money we make, our...

Decadent Space
Poem constructed to the musical composition, Whisperers by Gregor Anderson. The sounds of the piece reminded me of Chicago at its very early hours. Where all is quiet and the elements are most alive. Gregor's piece feels much like a film score and with that idea in mind, I wrote this piece for...

NFER
If observation is automatic, what are we really seeing? When does the mundane run into the psychology of the mind and shape our own experience? As a writing exercise, I allow my mind to move swiftly from one topic to another as I observe the passing world. I don't allow myself much avenue to...
