'Mother' explores the domestic connotations I associate with home. Using a variety of 2nd hand materials, from bed sheets to curtains, oil paint is used to create content from primary source photographs of teapots. By reupholstering the chair with the paintings as a cover, the work explores the frictions between viewing the item as a chair to be sat on and an artwork to observe from a distance. The sounds trigger the mind, again, by exploring this friction between a familiar sound and an unfamiliar visual.
