'Breach' is a piece of video art curated by Ryan Walker and Joshua Mutton. We made this piece to convey a sense of information being formed and shared within the space of virtual worlds. I used datamoshing, a technique that distorts pixels within the film footage to create a sense of confusion about the visuals the audience are seeing. This would then be projected onto a piece of Perspex, created by Joshua Mutton. This piece of Perspex contains smudge marks and grease to further distort and cast silhouettes onto the film. We wanted to convey a message that narration can be formed through the digital visuals we present through our media, and how much we rely on these visuals to contain the truth. Manipulation and distortion I believe, has made us uneasy towards Journalism and visuals due to how simple it is to change an image's narrative within the boundaries of today's modern utopia.
