A tribute to my first cat who recently passed away. I wanted to use this opportunity to commemorate his excitement about canned food, which brings back happy memories for me about his vocal meows and impatient pacing while waiting for his food. The piece is 15cm in diameter, and it portrays his bottom side visible underneath the lid of the can - this symbolises how keen he was to sit on objects, you'd almost think you could see an imprint of his paws on the surface. He had a very calm, relaxed temperament and he could stay in one position for hours, which I tried to capture in this piece as well. I used a bright lipstick for the paws to accentuate the pink colours among the black and white coat, which also symbolises his sensitive, well-groomed paws were akin to carefully maintained lips.
