This poem is inspired by the song 'Danse Macabre' by Camille Saint Saens. It translates to 'Dance of the dead' and is about how, every night on halloween, the dead rise to dance until dawn. This idea intrigued me massively. Arboretum by Adrian Manning is an image that made me think so strongly about this song.
This piece is called Danse Macabre: Reprise because I learned that 'reprise' is a word for a piece of music which is either repeated or a further performance of it. The reason for the reprise is that I have previously written a short story on the same topic and this poem is like taking this topic and redoing it in a completely different way.
