The silk road was an ancient trade route across Asia, connecting the East to the West from China to the Mediterranean. The trade route carried many different goods including silk, religions, new technologies, philosophy, food, and diseases like the plague!
Our partners at DanceEast would like you to create new work in response to the silk road, which is the theme for an exciting performance at the DanceHouse this April.
From the responses created, DanceEast will select three pieces to be featured in a news article on their website and an exclusive newsletter which they are sending out to all of their contacts - making this an excellent exposure opportunity.
In addition to this, DanceEast are giving two tickets for the Silk Road performance to one person from our local area (East Anglia) who creates a terrific response. If you would like to be considered for this part of the prize as well, please use the tag #ticket in your upload.
The deadline is midnight Monday 24th April. Enjoy Popping in any medium!
About Silk Road at DanceEast:
"A celebration of diverse cultures and dances as strong, yet as delicate, as silk itself.
Silk Road is a fascinating and vibrant exploration through dance, of rituals that took place along this ancient trade route across Asia, revealing the lesser-known connection between classical Indian dance and Flamenco.
Images of pilgrims, monks, traders and urban dwellers create a universal, yet personal story of East meets West in the 21st century. Collaborating with classical Indian dancer Mavin Khoo, José Agudo weaves his Flamenco routes with a unique, contemporary style."
